Maybelline Color Sensational Vivids

          

          It's no secret that I adore the Maybelline Color Sensational Vivids line. Not a day goes by that I don't reach for one of these creamy bright lipsticks. If you follow me on Instagram, you're probably sick of seeing my face and my lipstick choices. (ha!) I've had several people ask for swatches, and finally decided to give it a go. I thought I had all of them, but I guess I was wrong. I have eight of the ten. I'm missing Vibrant Mandarin and Neon Red. I'll update this post as soon as I get those two as well.

All photos were taken indoors with just my regular vanity lighting.

Bare Lips

       For a point of reference, these are my bare lips. I only used a lip scrub prior to this. I used Neutrogena Makeup Remover Wipes between all swatches. I didn't use any lip liner or bases for these pictures.

Pink Pop 860

light and bright cool bubblegum pink

      This is much brighter in real life. I reach for this whenever I'm wearing pastels. It's light without being chalky. 

Fuchsia Flash 865

      This was the last one I picked up. I don't know what took me so long! It's the perfect medium pink. I think this would be flattering on nearly every skin tone. 

Shocking Coral 870

      This is my first experience with a coral lipstick. At first, all I could think about was the coral lipstick I've seen little old women wear. This is not your grandmother's lipstick. It's fresh and flattering.

Vivid Rose 875

      This one is a little less intense and flashy. I've worn this to work several times. It's very wearable.

Electric Orange 880

      I can't lie. I never thought I'd have an orange lipstick. This isn't for the faint at heart. It's bold. It's bright. It's really, really, really orange. I'm surprised by how much I like it. I haven't worn yet; I'm not quite sure what kind of outfit to pair this with. It's on my to do list!

On Fire Red 895

hot, vibrant red

      Super wearable, vibrant red. This is one of my top reds in my lip collection. It's easy to wear and doesn't give me that weird yellowing of the teeth I get with some reds. You know what I mean, right? 

Hot Plum 900

vivid purple fuchsia

      My favorite! I've worn this more than any of the others. I actually have two backup tubes. I can't live without this lipstick! I can't think of a single person this wouldn't look great on. It's the perfect bright purple fuchsia. You need this one more than air.

Brazen Berry 905

cool magenta purple

      This one was hard to photograph correctly. It's more of a vibrant purple in real life. It's the darkest of the eight I've swatched. I like this, but it does make me look much paler than normal. (To be fair, I'm super pale to begin with.)

Maybelline Color Sensational Vivids Comparison Swatches

Pros:

• Super pigmented.
• Creamy and easy to apply texture.
• Decent staying power.
• Soft and hydrating formula.
• Available at drugstores at a nice price. (MSRP: $7.49)

Cons:

• Cheap packaging. 
• No "safety seal" on the product.
• Must keep in a cool place; easily melts.

       I think it's safe to say that I love these. If I could only use one lip product line for rest of time, this would be it. I personally don't own any MAC lipsticks, but I've heard several of these are dupes. I'd much rather pay $8 for a lipstick. Wouldn't you? I can't wait to get my hands on the other two!      And's here a mugshot for you. Don't mind the less than perfect makeup. I work up really early this morning and was running errands all day. 

   I decided to show off Electric Orange. This one scared me the most and was the furthest outside my comfort zone. As you can see, it's actually quite flattering. What do you think? Would you rock an orange lip?
