Hey, babes! If you follow me on Instagram or Facebook, you've seen my many, many Lush posts. Ever since my first trip to Lush Cosmetics last Valentine's Day, I've been hooked. My whole bath and body routine is from Lush. I'm always being asked to do reviews so I figured I'd oblige!
This winter has done a number on my skin. I needed something moisturizing and one of the sales reps recommended Oatifix Fresh Face Mask. This is my first time using this mask so you'll find all the details under the cut!
Oatifix
Oatifix was made to nourish and moisturize irritated, dry skin. It's a mix of bananas, vanilla, almonds, and oats. Oats are naturally anti-histemic so they help to calm redness and soothe skin. Bananas help to soften and moisturize while the ground almonds give a slightly exfoliating finish. Since this is a fresh mask, don't forget to refrigerate!
After opening this baby up, I was hit by the aroma of banana bread. This mask really does smell good enough to eat. From my experiences with a few other masks from Lush, this one seems to be a little thicker than most. It's very paste like.
I used about three scoops this size to cover my entire face. (Just a note: I applied this to a clean face so I could really get the full effect of the ingredients.) I slathered it on and left it sit for about 10 minutes. I honestly lost track of time because I was busy watching Friends. Oops!
You don't need a super thick layer of the mask for it to work. Only the part touching your skin is actually doing anything.
Don't mind my unruly eyebrows. I have an appointment at the Benefit Brow Bar this week!
For those of you who want to see the texture, here's a close up shot.
After 10 minutes, I wet my hands with warm water and gently massaged the mask into my face. I found it to exfoliate nicely. Then I rinsed my face clean and patted dry. I'd be lying if I said I didn't try to splash water on my face like in the commercials. It was a fail.
The Final Verdict:
My face felt so refreshed after using Oatifix. I don't feel as dry and itchy as I did and my flaky splotches have been remedied. For years, my skin has been combination/oily, but the extreme cold we've been having in Pittsburgh has done a number on me. Oatifix will definitely be in my arsenal for instances like this. I typically get 4-6 uses from one tub and masks are good for a few weeks. I'm a fan!
Lush Cosmetics Oatifix Fresh Face Mask is available in store.
In the US, a 2.1 oz. mask is $6.95 plus tax or you can trade in 5 black pots for a free one!

Oatifix makes me think of the Oatybar thing from the Serenity movie :D
ReplyDeleteSounds like it hit the spot for dry winter skin!
I just started using this too! Apparently my normal mask (Sacred Truth) is "temporarily discontinued" so the people at Lush recommended this to me! I love it so much I might not go back to Sacred Truth whenever it's back...
ReplyDeleteOh, no! I didn't get to use that one yet. My favorite one of all time is Catastrophe Cosmetic. I'm usually oily, but my skin is changing. I'm not sure how I feel about that.
ReplyDeleteIt definitely did. I woke up with soft and hydrated skin, too.
ReplyDeletei wanna work at lush so my face can be on stickers !
ReplyDeleteWouldn't that be great? Plus a 50% discount!
ReplyDeleteThis looks great (and your pic with the mask on made me giggle)...my skin is very sensitive, and oatmeal in general tends to calm things down. :) Mel at eyecreamadvisor
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure what's giggle worthy, but I'm glad to help!
ReplyDeleteOh...so sorry...I meant the pic with the product on your face. I constantly have something "natural" on my face...my husband walks in, glances, and doesn't say a word anymore, LOL. He likes the results, so it's all good. :) Just really enjoyed the review, great post.
ReplyDeleteNo worries! My dude thinks it's hilarious when I have on Mask of Magnaminty.
