I'm a bit late, but didn't want to miss out on sharing this with you! This week's Beauty Buffs theme is nautical. I actually think this was my idea, but I could be mistaken. I had so many ideas run through my mind until I finally decided on this one. I'm not sure what possessed me to try to freehand an anchor. I won't be doing that one again! ha! Check out all the details under the cut...
|Polishes Used: Tattle Teal, Gold Plated, Spotlight White, and Quick Dry Top Coat|
Tattle Teal: one coat
Gold Plated : two coats
no top coat
So, here's the rundown. I started with Tattle Teal. It was perfect in just one coat. Amazing, huh? I wanted something that wasn't so traditional so I chose the teal base instead of navy or red. I think it looks great with the gold and white.
For the index and pinky, I made a few white stripes in one corner using a striping brush. After they dried, I used the same brush to make the gold stripe. It doesn't have to be perfect!
The polka dot nail is actually my favorite. That one's pretty self explanatory.
For the ring nail, I had the bright idea of free handing an anchor. Nope. That was a big fail. UGH. I hate it so, so much. Let's just pretend that one doesn't exist. Deal?
This pains me, but this teal is a stainer. It was much worse than the picture shows. I had to buff it out and scrub with whitening toothpaste. I was pretty bummed. I only had this polish on for about two hours. Just a word of warning: double up that base coat!

Tattle Teal is GORGEOUS! Love your nautical look with these polishes!ReplyDelete
Thank you! Too bad it stained my fingers. :(ReplyDelete
Eee!! I love this look, Ashley!! The color combo is so fantastic and I never would have thought to pair them for a nautical look, but they work so well together! And I definitely think you need to free hand more things because your anchor still looks great imo :)ReplyDelete
LOVE!!! The color combo, the polka dots, the slanted stripes, that cute anchor! OMG I'm obsessed with your mani look <3ReplyDelete

Thank you! I'd use a nail vinyl for the anchor next time!ReplyDelete
Thank you! I'll never compare to how amazing you are, but I can try. hahaReplyDelete
Derp, what a typo! :-PReplyDelete
I'll let it slide this time. ;)ReplyDelete
Thanks for the warning about it staining, but a great manicure! I think your attempt at an anchor was not bad! All the tutorials make it look so easy but I know from experience it is not as easy as they make it look! Trust me mine looked a lot worse than yours hahaReplyDelete
Ugh. Yes! All the tutorials were flawless but mine wasn't. I guess I can only get better with practice.ReplyDelete
