Rica -80s to the Max Collection

Press Sample

Today's post a is blast from the past! Grab your acid wash jeans and hold on to your scrunchies because this collection is going to knock your socks off! (Was that too much? Oh, well!) As much as I hate to admit my age and my fleeting youth, I'm an 80s baby. Late 80s, but 80s nonetheless.

80s to the Max is a super fun collection of a glitter topper, a thermal, a glittery creme, and three glitter crellies. Rica has outdone herself again! Don't miss this one...

Valley Girl

bright lilac crelly base
white rectangles
pink and blue triangles
blue circles
chartreuse mini hexes
tiny holo sparkles

Valley Girl

three thin coats
one coat Glossy Glam

Valley Girl

This polish built up nicely. I used three thin coats for full coverage. Two would have been fine, but I liked how the third coat gave it a bit more depth. It had a great dry time and one coat of Glossy Glam smoothed it over perfectly.

Valley Girl

The chartreuse glitters are my favorite part of this. They really pop!

Take a Chill Pill

medium gray creme base
tiny rainbow metallic sparkles

Take a Chill Pill

two coats
one coat Glossy Glam

Take a Chill Pill

Flawless application! It was nearly opaque is one coat, but I used two for this look. It was fairly smooth on its own; I used one coat of Glossy Glam to add more shine.

So many sparkles! This reminds me a bit of static on an old console tv. Super 80s, right?

Scrunchies

turquoise crelly base
pink triangles
 yellow and light purple circles
pink and yellow hexes
tiny purple metallic sparkles
turquoise shimmer

Scrunchies

two coats
one coat Glossy Glam

Scrunchies

This applied nicely, too! I used two coats for full coverage. As with the other polishes in the collection, I didn't have to fish for glitters. Just a shake or two because application, and it's good to go. I topped it with some Glossy Glam to finish it off.

Scrunchies

This is my favorite from the collection and the first one I wore when I got them in the mail. I wore it for three days and received so many compliments. The color scheme is perfect.

Sweet Dreams Are Made Of This

clear base
white stars
light blue triangles and stars
various shades of blue and purple hexes

Sweet Dreams Are Made Of This

one coat over China Glaze Gothic Lolita
one coat Glossy Glam

Sweet Dreams Are Made Of This

So much glitter with so little effort! I used one coat for a great payoff. It dried quickly and only needed one coat of Glossy Glam to finish it off.

Sweet Dreams Are Made Of This

We all know how much I love purple so it's no surprise that I like this one a lot!

Girls Just Wanna Have Fun

thermal
purple jelly base
pink jelly base when warm/hot
tiny iridescent sparkles

Girls Just Wanna Have Fun

three thin coats
one coat Glossy Glam

Girls Just Wanna Have Fun

Such a great formula! Three thin coats and this baby built up to perfection. I used one coat of Glossy Glam to finish it off.

The thermal change in this is pretty awesome, huh? The two pink nails were blasted with my hair dryer for a few seconds to kick start the change. After a bit, the tips started to change to purple. I really like this look! The longer I wore it, the more it changed. Eventually, all my nails were purple at the tips and pinker near the cuticles.

Girls Just Wanna Have Fun

Not only is this a great thermal, but the iridescent sparkle really looks different in the purple and the pink. It's such a fun look!

Totally Tubular

white crelly base
pink triangles
blue squares and hexes
black circles
hot pink mini hexes

Totally Tubular

two coats
one coat Glossy Glam

Totally Tubular

Two coats! Yup. Just two for full coverage. Plus, there was no fishing needed to get those big circles out. One coat of Glossy Glam was the perfect end for it.

Totally Tubular

Could this be any more 80s? I don't really think so. This white crelly is totally sweet.

Just for funsies, here's a Flashback Friday picture of me from about 1989! I loved those purple metallic spandex pants so much.

  1. You should have seen my big Farrah Fawcett hair from the late 80's! It would have looked great with "Scrunchies" on my nails.

  3. Funny! I started high school in 1990, so I am pretty torn on the 80s vs 90s thing for my youth. I guess it's more 80s for toys, but then both 80s and 90s when you get into the music tv and movie memories...
