Alanna Renee - Bundle of Joy: It's a Surprise! and Lenny

Press Sample

I have a new to me indie polish to share with you today! All the way from down under! Alanna Renee is an Australian Indie brand launched in January 2013, and is run single-handedly by Alanna in her spare time after her full time IT job.  Plus, the polishes are the big 3 free. We always like to hear that, right?

These polishes are part of the Bundle of Joy collection featuring colors inspired by babies. For a full review and how you can score your own, check out the rest under the cut...

All photos were taken in natural light.
One coat of Rejuvacote was used as base.

It's a Surprise!
very pale buttery yellow creme
subtle silver/gold shimmer

It's a Surprise!
two coats
one coat Seche Vite

It's a Surprise! has a really great, opaque formula. It has a nice consistency that was easy to work with. Two coats offered full coverage and it dried pretty quickly.

It's a Surprise!

I really like the name of this polish and how it's the "gender neutral" polish in the collection. I don't see many people waiting until the birth to find out the sex of the child. I think that would fun, but what do I know?

It's a Surprise!

It's a Surprise! has a very, very subtle shimmer. So subtle that I couldn't really see it on the nail. The color is great for me. It doesn't give me lobster hands! It'll make a nice palate cleanser.

Lenny
white crelly base
large black dots
small orange, red, and blue hexes

two coats
one coat Seche Vite

I'm in shock that this built up as well as it did. Two coats made it fully opaque with a great glitter payoff. I found this to take a bit longer to dry, but worth the wait. I'd suggest a few minutes between coats so the glitter doesn't drag. One coat of Seche Vite smoothed it out perfectly for me.

Lenny
When I first saw this in the box, I thought, "Oh, another red, white, and blue polish." This is so much more! I love the addition of the black dots and orange hexes. Don't worry! The black dots come out easily. I didn't have to do any fishing for the ones I caught. This was such a breeze to apply. Because honestly, ain't nobody got time for that.

Lenny

I love a good glitter macro! This doesn't disappoint at all. The black dots make this polish for me. My 14 year old sister liked it, too. She chose this polish for her manicure when she at my house yesterday. Plus, I heard it was a hit with her friends.
