Lush Lacquer - Clowning Around

A few weeks ago, I won a Lush Lacquer giveaway on Facebook. I very rarely win anything, and was pretty excited about it. I won a polish of my choice from the new neon collections. There were some great glitter combos in milky bases, but I went with Clowning Around. I figured a clear base would give me more versatility.

Clowning Around is a mix of semi transparent hexes of varying sizes in a clear base: large neon yellow/green, blue, and pink, medium pink, orange, blue, yellow/green, and purple, smaller blue, and tiny purple and pink. In the bottle, this polish reminds me of neon fish food or Fruity Pebbles.

The formula on this was a bit wonky for my taste. The base seemed too thick and made application tricky. I applied one thin coat, let it dry completely, and then dabbed on the second coat. After letting it dry most of the way, I added two coats of Seche Vite. I'm not sure why it bubbled so much. I swatched it on nail wheels after  this and it did the same thing. I think it could be the thick base.

I really loved the overall effect of this polish. I prefer it over the purple and blue bases, though. If it didn't bubble on me, it would have been perfect. I don't have any prior experience with these neon glitters. Is there a trick to them I don't know about?

  1. I got that a lot too with my clowning around. I just thought I was doing something wrong. Good to know it wasn't me. The color from this collection Neon Lights bubbled a lot too.

    1. I was surprised by the bubbling. I always let my glitters dry before adding top coat to help prevent that from happening. I'm not sure what went wrong. -shrugs-

    1. I'm hoping to find a similar polish without the large glitters. If you want to try this, I could send you a decant mini of it. I'll never use the whole bottle.
